I was having falafel with my mom the other day (in the US) and I was saying, "this is pretty good, but the best falafel I ever had was that place in Florence. That place was so great. I wonder if it's still there..." I did study abroad in Florence for 9 months over 30 years ago and I made sure to bring my mom to get falafel when she visited me, because it was that good. All I remembered was that it was Egyptian and was near Santa Maria Novella. I googled it and here it is. I guess I shouldn't be surprised it's still around, anyplace that great would surely stay in business. I'm not an expert on middle eastern food by any stretch, but I have lived in NYC, Paris, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC--all places with great international food options--and Re d'Egitto is hands down the best falafel I've ever had.
Food is good for late night cravings. We ordered the chicken and rice, which includes some sides of your choice, veggies, and a bit of fries with some sauces of your preference.
They also serve shawarma and drinks. Good price as well. Dining is decent size if you're planning to eat there!
Owner charger me more then the price on the sign and didnt give me the drink included told me i misread the sign. Absolutely trash businessman and super rude. Food was terrible. Seats have the backs removed for no reason. Place is extremely dirty and everyone working there seems depressed. Luckily there is a million other places people could eat
Excellent delicious shawarma with very good price
Great taste. A menu of a kebab sandwich, fries and a soft drink is only 7,5 euros. I was good.
My wife and I wanted a quick lunch and came across I Re d'Egitto. We both had a wrap and added our favorite ingredients from the selections. It was delicious! It was so good we came back again the next day. Highly recommend.
It’s beautiful place and they speak Arabic so it’s good
From Australia and honestly for what it is, it was a cracker kebab. Great midnight snack if you're sick of eating pizza and pasta.
Chilli sauce was really good too.
